Blogging Along
Do you blog? If you're not familiar with the word "blog," it is
derived from "web log." Blogs probably began when web denizens wanted a way to share the things they found online
with others. They created sites with links and commentary, pointing visitors to sites and information of interest.
Blogs have also become online "diaries" where bloggers share their experiences, often updating several times a day. Blog
subjects may be political or technical, or even "Notes on Knitting and other crafty things from a Mom in the middle of
nowhere with a computer and way too much access to technology," as one new blogger describes her site.
Although many blogs have been fringe or counter-cultural, now it seems everyone has a blog. Even humorist Dave Barry has one.
You can read it at: http://davebarry.blogspot.com/. And, like everything else on the web, blogs are now being used for
commercial purposes.
You can use a blog to help build your reputation as an expert in a particular field of knowledge. Because bloggers scour the
web for sites of interest, and compile them for the use of others, they quickly become resources. You can go from unknown
to web star in months!
If you are interested in starting a blog, you can run your blog free using blogger software. They'll host your site, or you can
host your blog at your own site. Find out more at http://www.blogger.com/.
